An old friend in Boston once told me “Ya gotta start the program off with a bang.” I believe La Plaga fills that bill. This is the story of an international youth movement. And even though you could point to cultural imperialism, we don’t need to go there this time-around. Trust the kids. If it’s got a good beat and you can dance to it, “I dig it, Ricardo!” It seems like everybody everywhere did the twist at one point and then later on dropped acid. Listen to that progression herein. And if you hear covers to original American hits, well, I just hope the artists got royalties. BTW, Vietnamese Elvis Phuong must be a stage name, no? I mean, come on – “Phuong”?!
This one’s gonna be fun.
