Radio Radio

underconstruction

I created a page that links to various radio shows I like. With college stations abounding, Boston has been a great place for music. Much of that good local stuff - in now available on web as streams or on demand - and some national stuff as well.

SUNDAY
Sunday Baroque - It is amazing how much of this is like rocknroll. A first principles kind of thing. It is always on for replay. Of course, the ghost of Steve Jobs will still appear if you are on Apple device and try to listen via Flash.

8 am WRCA 1330 am http://1330wrca.com/ Skippy Whites Indomitable Gospel Train. With The Gospelaires of Dayton Ohio, the Swannee Quartet, James Clevland - God's Own Jukebox, right?!

American Routes-  on demand - Nick Spitzer is the hippest man this side of the son. Big emphasis on the New Orleans music - that's good!

World Music- Folk Odyssey - streaming WUMB 2-6pm ET World Music - Dana Westhover is the eclectics' eclectic. If you dont like the Croatian stuff, hang tight, cause Somali is coming up, etc. http://www.live365.com/cgi-bin/mini.cgi?station_name=wumb919fast&site=PLR-wumb919fast&tm=7760

The Jazz Decades - WGBH - Jazz - on demand. Ray Smith had trad jazz, swing and dance music down brother. So many muscians on that road! And he can tell you about each one.  Dont call the control room with a request, because Ray passed a few years ago...he is the best example I have found yet of Ray Kurzweill's vaunted "Singularity" - he is gone, but his records are still spinning. Alternate link.

Highway 61 Revisited streaming WUMB

8 am - Noon Albert O took over reigns of the folk-rolk and 60's retrospective show. Jackson Browne, the Byrds, Manfred Mann, Joni Mitchell. Those were pretty creative times - his audience is youngsters who missed it and old fartes that are losing memories. Click Here.

SATURDAY

Saturday Programs:
6-8am 88 Rewound
Hosted by: Alex McNeil, Christopher Vyce, Patrick Bryant
"88 Rewound" counts down the hits from a week in the past (50s, 60s, 70s or 80s), as they appeared on a local radio survey.
Listen to past shows: Sat Nov 16 06:00 am
Sat Nov 09 06:00 am

8-10am Skippy White Time Tunnel
The dean of Boston Soul DJs over 40 year. Bought many records in his Central Sq store including Rock Your Baby and Get Down Tonight.

Hillbilly at Harvard - Streaming WHRB 9 am - 1pm This show goes back before the 1950s I believe. It is traditional country and bluegrass. I got into it actually when I was learning about blues music, which is often quite similar. DJ Old Sync left earth a few years ago and Cousin Lynn carries it on. They introduced me to many, many great artists. Length of show varies during Metropolitan Opry season.
